Study: Women's Hands Cleaner Than Men's
Men are dirtier than women. So scientists confirmed by spying in public restrooms, watching as one-quarter of men left without washing their hands.

The worst offenders were at an Atlanta Braves game.

In contrast, 90 percent of the women did wash up.

This is why I use the paper towel I've just dried my hands with to open the door. I don't want to touch the door handle with my bare hands!

The latest free version of Opera Software's namesake browser will be available without an advertising banner.

With version 8.5 of the Opera browser, which was released Tuesday, the company said that it has removed banner ads from its free edition. Until now, Opera customers had the option of paying to eliminate the ads and receive premium support.

There's never been a better time to try Opera! It installs and uninstalls cleanly, so if by some odd chance you don't like it you can always go back to whatever you're using now.

Virtual Dimension

Virtual Dimension is a virtual desktop manager for Windows (2000 and XP). It blows the pants off the MSVDM PowerToy and it's equally free (GPL). On the relatively small screen of my laptop, the ability to have multiple desktops is invaluable, and Virtual Dimension is a good and stable implementation.

The post-hurricane speech Bush won't deliver: "My fellow Americans: First, I want to apologize to you, and particularly to the citizens of Mississippi and Louisiana, for my administration's failure to prepare for Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. I apologize for our excruciating slowness in getting life-supporting essentials -- food, clean water and medicine -- to the flood victims in New Orleans. Sadly, I realize that the federal government's inexcusable delay of at least two days in providing these essential items caused many unnecessary deaths, and unnecessarily prolonged the agony for thousands of mostly poor, black citizens of the United States, who were barely surviving in disgusting conditions. For that I am truly sorry."
