O’Connor to Retire From Supreme Court

Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman on the Supreme Court and a swing vote on abortion as well as other contentious issues, announced her retirement Friday. A bruising Senate confirmation struggle loomed as President Bush selects a successor.

This is it. This is what the neocons considering the “nukular option” were thinking of–and don’t think they are happy to have avoided exercising it. If they had, the confirmation process for the new Supreme justice would have been quick and easy. Instead, the Dems can stall and threaten and, hopefully, delay until Our Long National Nightmare comes to an end.
