Lucky us
Bay Area shoppers get Lucky with return of markets’ name:
After an eight-year absence, Lucky supermarkets are returning to the Bay Area. They won’t be new stores, built from scratch. Instead, the area’s 72 Albertsons grocery stores will switch names, adopting the Lucky brand.
The change marks the latest twist in the stores’ long and complicated history.
I realize they’re all owned by the same parent company, but I always liked Lucky much more than Albertson’s. The Albertson’s closest to us was disgusting and closed last year, but we never went there anyway, prefering Safeway. If a Lucky opened up nearer than the Safeway, we’d definitely shop there.
