Pushups for strikeouts and base hits

Tonight as I watched the Giants play the Pirates, I did pushups for
strikeouts (by Giants pitchers) and base hits (by Giants batters).

Strikeout: 10
Single: 10
Double: 20
Triple: 30
Home Run: 40

Totals by the end of the 6th inning:

Strikeouts: 7 x 10 = 70
Singles: 4 x 10 = 40
Doubles: 1 x 20 = 20
Triples:
Home Runs: 1 x 40 = 40

170 pushups, and my wrists are in serious pain so I'm done.

No Doubt at Shoreline Amphitheatre, July 25, 2009 / video recap

What can I say? The show was fantastic! The openers, The Sounds and Paramore, set a great, high-energy mood for No Doubt. Here was the view from our seats (sect 202, row K, 33 & 34):

…and here we are waiting for the show to start:

The Sounds was the first act on stage at around 7:30, and here is one of the songs they performed (“Dorchester Hotel”):

I said at the time that The Sounds reminded me of vintage Blondie.

Next up was Paramore, and wow did they put on a great show! One of the songs they performed (“Ignorance”) is off their upcoming album Brand New Eyes:

The main attraction of the night, of course, was No Doubt, and some very kind souls have posted a complete setlist from the show, which allowed me to find YouTube clips of almost song they performed. No Doubt started off with “Spiderwebs”; you might recognize the instrumental piece played as they came on stage.

Doubtful

Now it can be told: We’re seeing No Doubt tomorrow night at the Shoreline Ampitheatre in Mountain View. I bought the tickets during fan-club presale back in February, but kept it secret until just now when we were talking about plans for the weekend. Needless to say Jen was pleasantly surprised and we’re both excited. Naturally, I will be tweeting and TwitPic-ing live from the show.

We saw lead singer Gwen Stefani on her solo tour in 2005.

Manually uninstalling Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 on Mac OS X Leopard

Adobe Acrobat Reader doesn’t provide an uninstall utility on Mac OS X (despite claiming to do so on their support site) and after installing it for a single test, I wanted it gone. Following are the steps I took to remove Adobe Acrobat Reader from my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.7).

Note that these instructions will likely remove all Adobe software, including AIR if you have that installed; AIR is installed automatically (and without telling you) with Acrobat Reader.

Delete these folders from Finder:

  • /Applications/Adobe Acrobat
  • /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities

In Terminal, type sudo find / -name *Adobe*
From that list, delete these:

  • /Library/Application Support/Adobe
  • /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
  • /Users/(your user account)/Library/Application Support/Adobe
  • /Users/(your user account)/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat
  • /Users/(your user account)/Library/Caches/Adobe
  • /Users/(your user account)/Library/Logs/Adobe
  • /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Adobe

In Terminal, type sudo find / -name *Acrobat*
From that list, delete:

  • /Users/(your user account)/Library/Caches/Acrobat

Reboot. I don’t like having to, but several of the Adobe components were locked or in use and I couldn’t completely delete them. After rebooting, a sample PDF linked from a Web site opened in Safari via Preview, and a downloaded PDF opened in Preview standalone just like they used to.

Right now it looks like I got everything, but I’ll update this post if I find any more remnants.

‘Stand and Deliver’ is on my summer soundtrack

This question came around a while ago, and while I don't know about "suited for warm weather" I am looking at these three as "often played" in iTunes.

Stand and Deliver by No Doubt

It's a terrific cover of a classic Adam Ant song.

Calabria by Enur

Great catchy beat.

Love Takes Over by David Guetta

Number one dance track in America and for a very good reason.
